As an emo fan of a certain age (i.e. old), this album feels like such a gift because I can pretend it's the sequel to Brand New's "Deja Entendu" that we'll never get. Had this come out in 2003, like "The Room's Too Cold" or "War All The Time," we'd already be reading 20th anniversary oral histories about the making of this classic album (guess we'll just have to wait until 2040). A stunner, front to back.

absolutely beautiful, crossing the lines between midwest emo and math rock with killer riffs alongside complex drumming patterns really gets me going, not to mention the most relatable lyrics from uncomfortable anxiousness to uncontrollable desire for love and prosperity, love this so effing hella

I feel like this is what I always wanted bands like Paramore to be- but this is way better. It's so intimate and open and poetic, I feel like I'm reading someone's journal. The production and the music really solidify this post-pop-punk kind of grit- without ever making it sound whiney or angsty. It's grit your teeth as your heart breaks kind of good.
